What we collect

Gameplay analytics. We send anonymous gameplay events (e.g. “daily puzzle solved”, solve time, streak length) to Google Analytics (app) and PostHog (app and web) so we can understand which parts of the game work. In the app these events are tied to a random device identifier generated on first launch, not to your name, email, or any account; you can turn them off at any time (see Your choices). The web’s PostHog analytics set no cookies (only a random id stored locally in your browser).

Crash & error diagnostics. To find and fix bugs, both the app and the web player send crash and error reports to Sentry (sentry.io). A report describes what went wrong: the error, your device or browser and OS, the app or build version, and (in the app) the same random device identifier. Like analytics, it never includes your name, email, or puzzle content. Sentry may also process the IP address the report is sent from. In the app this is covered by the same “Share anonymous diagnostics” toggle as analytics; switching it off stops crash reporting too.

Cloud save (optional). If you choose to sign in to back up your progress (with Google Play Games in the app, or Google Sign-In on the web player), we store your puzzle progress (daily streaks, solve history, journey and endless completion) against a stable account identifier provided by Google (your Play Games player id or Google account id). We use this only to restore your progress if you reinstall, clear storage, or switch devices. We do not receive your password. Cloud save is entirely optional: skip sign-in and your progress simply stays on your device. The backup is hosted on Cloudflare.

Advertising (app only). Ads are served by Google AdMob, which may collect device identifiers (such as the advertising ID) and use them as described in Google’s privacy policy. Kire shows two kinds of ad: rewarded ads, which are always optional and only play when you choose to watch one for a hint or an in-game reward; and a single interstitial slot on the Climb, which runs on a fixed schedule printed in the app’s Settings. The daily puzzle never shows an ad. Any purchase mutes the interstitial, and the “Kire Pro” purchase removes it permanently. The web player has no ads.

Purchases (app only). Kire offers optional in-app purchases: coin packs, season passes, occasional bundles, and one-time unlocks such as “Kire Pro” and “Kire Full”. Payment is processed entirely by Google Play; we do not receive or store your payment details. We do keep a record of each order (the Google order identifier and what it granted) so a purchase can be restored and cannot be redeemed twice.

Your display name. You can set a display name (“handle”) for the leaderboards. If you sign in, we store it with your account and sync it across your devices. This name is public: it appears to other players on the global standings, on the daily race board, on event boards, and on any challenge link you create. Choose a name you are happy to show publicly. You can change it at any time, and we may hide a name that breaks our content rules.

Push notifications (optional, app). If you allow notifications, Firebase Cloud Messaging issues a registration token for your device, and we store that token together with your per-category preferences (for example, whether you want challenge alerts) so we can send the reminders you asked for. The token identifies a device installation, not you personally. Turning notifications off stops this, and we prune tokens that stop working.

Challenge links. When you create a “beat my time” challenge, we store the board’s identifier, your solve as spoiler-safe progress data (covered-cell counts, never the solution), and your display name, and publish them at a playkire.com/c/… link so whoever you send it to can race you. Anyone with the link can view it. We also generate a preview image for that link. Challenge data is deleted after 30 days of inactivity.

What we don’t collect

No email addresses, no contacts, no location, no microphone or camera access. We never ask for or receive a password. Apart from the display name you choose, we do not ask you for personal information. Your puzzle history, streaks, and settings are always stored locally on your device (app) or in your browser (web); unless you opt in to cloud save (above), they are never sent anywhere and are deleted when you uninstall the app or clear site data.

Data sharing & retention

We share data only with the processors named above (Google Analytics, PostHog, Sentry for crash reporting, AdMob, Google Play, and, for cloud save, Cloudflare) as needed to operate the game. Analytics data is retained per each provider’s standard retention settings (Google Analytics: 14 months, PostHog: per project settings); crash reports per Sentry’s default (90 days). Cloud-save progress, your display name and your leaderboard entries are retained until you ask us to delete them. Challenge and race data is deleted 30 days after a race goes idle. Push tokens are kept until they stop working or you disable notifications. Purchase records are kept indefinitely, so an entitlement can always be restored and an order cannot be replayed.

Children

Kire is a logic puzzle suitable for everyone. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children; ad content rating is set to “G” and ads are non-personalized where consent is absent. Because display names are public, we ask that children do not use a real name as their handle.
